Latimer Art College was celebrating a bumper crop of GCSE results.

Lin McGroary, 16, achieved A* results in biology, chemistry, physics, design technology, English, English literature and religious studies.

She received an A* in maths last year and yesterday also got As in French, art, art and textiles and history.

She said: "I feel fantastic - I'm ecstatic at the results and am really happy.

"My brother took his GCSEs four years ago and I'm really happy I've got better results than he did – but he did really well as well.

"I couldn't' really sleep the night before because of nerves."

Hannah Meads, 16, achieved four A* grades, five As, two Bs and one C.

James Clarke, 16, achieved A* grades in English literature and Maths.

He also achieved five A grades and three B grades.

He said: "I'm really chuffed at the results, I worked really hard over the last two years "I'm really happy to be going to going onto sixth form and I was very nervous opening my results."

James hopes will return to Latimer to study ICT, physics, chemistry and maths.

Headteacher Chris Grimshaw said: "I am so pleased to see the reward for hard work and effort that underpins a great set of results.

"Students, parents and the staff have worked tirelessly to achieve these grades and these results will support students as they move onto their next stage of education or employment."

There were 60 per cent of students who achieved A* to C and 98 per cent of pupils who achieved A* to G rates.
